Q: Is this because of anxiety or something else?
Since school began (Wednesday) I’ve been suffering from terrible stomach pains, I’m assuming gas pains because I’ve had loose stool and I’ve been… well, gassy. It comes randomly during school and before school and its not until I’m home that I usually feel better. However, yesterday I had the same problem… and it was Friday evening, so now I’m thinking its not school anxiety related. The pains come sometimes before or after eating, so it’s completely random. And now, it seems everytime I eat, I get some sort of weird stomach condition. This morning I had oatmeal (bland, right?) and I got horrible heartburn. I’m not sure what to think of all this. It’s never happened before… anyone have any idea? I could really use the help… thank you!
A: Sounds to me like you are having anxiety about school. I suffer from anxiety, and when i get nervous i have the same symptoms as you described. The fact that you feel better after school is a good indicator of the problem. The only way to ease the symptoms is to try to do whatever you can to not feel so anxious, or if it gets really bad, i would suggest a trip to the doctor to make sure that’s what it is. They have medicine that helps anxiety if you feel you need it. Good luck and try to relax
Q: Gallstones/Gallbladder/Pancreatitis experts…I need advice?
I’m hoping someone here will have some experience with what I am going through right now.
About 3 weeks ago, I was hospitalized due to a severe gallbladder attack. The gallstone lodged itself in the pancreatic duct and I developed pancreatitis.
They wanted to keep me in the hospital until the pancreatitis died down a bit and perform emergency removal of the gallbladder.
But, the gallstone dislodged itself and after a few days of being tube fed my bloodwork started looking better. They let me go home as long as I promised to come back for gallbladder removal.
I’ve always been a healthy person and I never had any type of abdominal problems until this episode. But, since I have come home, I can only describe it as hell.
I have had 3 more gallbladder attacks (averaging 1 a week). It takes me around 2-3 days to recover from them. I feel like somebody beat me on the right side in the ribs with a metal baseball bat.
And it doesn’t matter what I eat, I have random attacks. I just had another attack this morning and it was after I ate some homemade oatmeal (no fat, just plain oatmeal).
Also I get these painful twinges in my gallbladder like something is sticking me from the inside. I won’t even tell you about my pancreas. It hates me!
Also, I have been having heartburn, burping uncontrollably, feeling nauseated, and I have NO appetite at all. I’ve never felt this lousy ever.
My operation is booked for Tuesday (5 days from now). I’m so scared because I don’t want to have another attack in the meantime. I don’t know if I can take another one.
How in the world did I go from being completely normal with NO problems to feeling like a beaten dog every single day? How can I have so many gallbladder attacks in succession without eating any trigger foods?
I’m nervous that there might be something more sinister going on. I guess that is why I’d like to hear how other people felt when they were experiencing gallstones and/or pancreatitis.
Any advice would be welcomed!
Thanks!
A: Pancreatitis is very PAINFUL! Possibly one of the most painful illness there is. I have been told the only more painful process is bone being devoured by cancer. Gallbladder attacks can also be painful. It is very difficult when a person has pancreas issues to eat something that doesn’t offend. What worked one day may not work another. I guess the only thing I can say or offer is that you know when your surgery is scheduled. Try to take it easy, as best you can. You might discuss with your physician if you could stay on a clear liquid diet until surgery, most clear liquid diets have no nutritional value, but prevent dehydration. I hope your surgery goes well, and that you have no lasting issues with your pancreas, but keep in mind that once you have had pancreatitis, it doesn’t take much to set that organ off. I had chronic pancreatitis for 10 years, and I would not wish that life on anyone.
Q: Let me try this again, How spoiled are you? Please answer TRUTHFULLY?
What is it you have to buy no matter what? If you run out your first reaction is ” Oh my God, where is that? I’m out !” You then run to your spouse and have to let them know. You then have to run to the store immediately and get it because it is just driving you crazy that you do not have it. Think about this let me know all the items then tell me and yourself how spoiled you really are!

My things are:
my rubbing alcohol (for my alcohol baths’ that I take twice a month)
epsom salt (for my other baths)
disstilled drinking water ( I will not drink tap)
Quakers Oatmeal (I will eat no other kind)
My peppermints (they freshen my breath and keep me from getting heartburn)
and of course the worst habit of all my cigarettes.
A: i need to have at least 4 chapsticks(i lose them as fast as i buy them)
wooly socks (they get dirty by walking in the house, so i throw them out)
skim milk (not 2%, not whole)
and that’s it. i wouldn’t say i’m too spoiled because i wont kill somebody if i dont have these things but will still complain about it.
Q: Constipation Issues – Please advise?
Hi, I am 25 years old and Indian. I have been having a bout of constipation for the past one and a half weeks, atleast I think so. I feel I do not empty myself completely, and feel bloated. I do not have any fatigue or loss of appetite and not that I feel tired at end of a days work. My weight as of today is the same as on January this year. I just feel that I am not emptying myself like before. I have had a very bad diet sine January as I did not cook once I joined work. So, I ended up eating outside a lot, like two times a day. Also, my breakfast habits were bad – at times, i just stayed hungry till afternoon. Having a desk job, I had almost no physical activity during the day. But after I discovered that I might be constipated, I started going for an hour run in the evening. I have also started taking a lot of fiber and vitamin C, by taking Benefiber, eating more fruits and veggies etc. Now, I am being able to use the restroom every morning, but at times I have to strain. I also notice on two separate occasions that there was a bright riddish tinge in my stool and maybe it was blood. Last week, I also had some heartburn.
I had visited a specialist last week and he gave me an all clear after hearing me out, (though there was no reddish tinge in my stool at that point of time) and he also did an ascites fluid wave test etc. He called me again after four weeks, but told me to come earlier if I did not feel fine. I was looking all these symptoms online and it freaked me out. Some of them suggested cancer of various forms and I got tensed. A few of them suggested IBS and Haemorroids.
Anyone who might have had a similar problem and can advise., before i visit the doc.
Also, I have been taking Keifer Probiotic milk since the last two days and it makes me feel much better. I might be wrong, but I did have an urge to use the restroom then.
Thx a lot. (apologies for the long post – but i am scared)
Also, I have been eating oatmeal for the past three days and also drinking a lot of fluids. Am off coffee and coke completely.
Hi- Thx for the reply – I was going to use Dulcolax, but read online that it was really very harsh… so stopped short of it. I was wondering if i should see the doctor again before using it. I’ll try prune juice for sure!
Thx Christine. That helps. I’ll take prune juice from tomorrow. Thx alot
A: When we have a constipated patient we will start with warm prune juice. Yes warm. Stimulates the nerves better. You can do molasses and milk mixed together. That is also a natural laxative that my hospital uses in the postpartum section. Lots and lots of water. Apple juice is large quanties too. You are doing your benifiber good. Maybe increase the dose a teaspoon or two. Exercise which your doing and extra fiber in your diet too fresh fruits and veggies. You sound like you’re straining causing hemorroids (red tinge) nothing with caffine it is a diuretic. If all else fails take a laxative but do not over use them. They have a way for you to stop having bms by yourself.
Q: When did morning sickness start for you?
I’m just over four weeks and other than the occasional bout of nausea, haven’t thrown up yet. I think my gag reflex is kicking in though, because yesterday when I got some oatmeal stuck in my throat and started to cough, I felt like I was going to toss my cookies until my throat was clear. Similarly, I was just having a snack and as I swallowed, I kind of felt like gagging. Is that normal and when did your morning sickness begin?
I’ve already pretty tired, have sore boobs, and some heartburn. While I’m not sick yet, I find most food just doesn’t have the same appeal to me as it did before, even when I’m hungry.
A: I’d say I started throwing up around 4-5 weeks, and I’d throw up multiple times a day if I didn’t keep food in my stomach. I lost 25 lbs because my metabolism got really high because of how many times a day I was eating. It stopped being that extreme probably around 22 weeks. I will still get sick in the morning if I don’t eat within 2 hours of waking up, but that’s the only time now.
Q: Am i pregnant?????????
I had sex 3 times this month one time around my supposed ovulation, but i took Plan B 4hrs afterwards. The first time was a week after my period ended and the one i really worry about because i think he came inside me and im not on birth-control even though i did use encare (i think). The other two times we used the withdrawal method. Which is supposed to work really well, and im certain there was no premature ejaculation. However its a week before my next period, and my breasts are sore as normal, but i felt sick after eating some oatmeal this morning, which is not a favorite dish and has made me feel tuck before. Along with small cramps around my left ovary, and back left kidney, as well as breast pains and maybe some extremely mild heartburn. But otherwise i feel normal, bloated but i dont FEEL pregnant. Please help me, what do you think.
Also in the equation is my boyfriend wants me to marry him and thinks i wont unless i’m pregnant or in 2 years.
I got it the withdrawal method facts from a article i read about a study some sexologist or whatever wrote. It has a good effective rate apparently, but anyways. I want to know if ill this upset of my stomach is because im nervous. . . also sometimes i have trouble eating before my period. Like now. . . . HELP!!!
A: Sorry to say that Plan B is like 89% effective, if you take it right.
I have heard of women who take plan b and still end up pregnant. Nothing is ever for sure, but at least you took it. I hope the best for you in whatever you really want.
Since you took it 4 hours after wards I am sure you have a higher chance of protection then someone taking it the next day, but nothing is ever for sure.
Q: I feel like vomiting after a small meal…?
So, at breakfast i had quaker oats oatmeal and a cup of orange juice around 9:30 am. Then at around 12 i had a tuna sandwich with a cup of milk and an hour later i had a slice of melon. I regret eating that melon because that’s when the pain started.
Its not exactly stomach pain its sort of in between the stomach and chest area. It feels like i need to trow up or something and sometimes i have heartburn along with that. I don’t know what it is and it’s very irritating, so i need to know. Any suggestion on what might be the problem? Oh yea, i also had a cup of greentea after each meal..
Btw, im 15 about to be 16 and a female.
A: Sounds like heartburn/acid reflux. I’ve had this when I have really acidic foods, and even with vitamins. I have 4 ounces of yogurt every day when I take my vitamin and I never have any problems. Try it! Yogurt is very good for you.
